How well do you know your arithmetic?

Practise at your own pace, or print a sheet to solve on paper.

Choose operations

Division uses these numbers as the divisor and answer. Subtraction never goes below zero. Changing settings resets the round.

Print a worksheet and answer key

Practise at your own pace, or print a sheet to solve on paper.

How to use

  1. Choose one or more operations.
  2. Set the largest number and the number of questions below the practice panel.
  3. Start the round and enter each answer. A missed question gives you another try.
  4. Open the worksheet section to print the questions and a separate answer key. Keep the seed and settings, or copy the link, to reproduce the sheet.

How it works

Addition puts amounts together, subtraction finds the difference, multiplication counts equal groups, and division splits an amount into equal groups. For example, 3 × 4 = 12 means three groups of four. The matching division fact is 12 ÷ 4 = 3.

The chosen range covers numbers from 1 to your maximum. For division, it covers the divisor and the answer: with a maximum of 10, you may see 100 ÷ 10. Subtraction puts the larger number first, so answers are never negative. These whole-number ideas are explained in OpenStax Prealgebra 2e, sections 1.2–1.5.

Practice counts answers that are correct on the first try. There is no time limit. A worksheet has the same questions as the round, followed by separate answer pages. Matching settings and a matching seed give the same questions in order; small ranges can repeat questions.

Frequently asked questions

Are there fractions or negative answers?

No. Division always gives a whole number, and subtraction gives zero or a positive number.

Does the maximum limit every number on the page?

No. It limits the two numbers in addition, subtraction and multiplication. For division it limits the divisor and the answer, so the dividend can be larger.

How do I get a different worksheet?

Change the seed. Some seeds can produce the same sheet when the number range is small.

Can I save a PDF?

Open the worksheet section, choose Print, then select Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog.

Are my answers saved?

No. Answers and scores remain only in the current round. A link contains the worksheet settings, not your answers.

Is this a timed test?

No. Take as long as you need. The score rewards correct first attempts, not speed.
