Where the gross pay goes

  • Net pay €2,651.60 · 76%
  • Taxes €496.63 · 14%
  • Contributions €351.77 · 10%

What the estimate assumes

  • The year's taxes and contributions, spread evenly over the payments: a single payslip can differ.
  • Wages only, with the standard €750.00 deduction for income expenses; other deductions (commuting, interest, household work) are left out.
  • Without a year of birth, all contributions of a working-age adult apply.
  • Municipal tax at the average rate of 7.6%: pick your municipality for its own rate.
  • The employer's accident and group life insurance are priced by insurers and left out.
  • United States is not covered yet. Pick one of the countries listed to see its rules.

How it works

Gross salary is what your contract says; net salary is what reaches your bank account. In between, the employer withholds income taxes and your own share of social insurance (pension, unemployment and, depending on the country, health and care insurance). The employer also pays its own contributions on top of the gross, which is why a job costs more than the salary.

Net = gross − taxes − your contributions. The calculator works out the whole year from your annual gross, then divides it by the payments.

It is an estimate. A single payslip can differ, because withholding is worked out month by month, and personal deductions (commuting, interest, allowances entered on a German tax card), bonuses and private health insurance are not included. The rules and their sources are listed under the result.

Worked example

What is the net monthly pay on €2,100.00 in Estonia in 2026, with a 2% funded pension and 12 payments?

  1. €2,100.00 − €33.60 − €42.00 − €291.37 = €1,733.03.

€1,733.03 per month, using the full tax-free allowance.

Frequently asked questions

What tax rate should my tax card show?

The estimated tax card rate under the result is the share of your gross that the year's taxes take. Vero's own calculator also counts your other income and deductions.

Why does the municipality matter?

Municipal tax is the largest tax on an average salary, and each municipality sets its own rate, between about 4.7 % and 10.9 % in 2026.
