Set your duration
What you enter stays on your device while you use this tool. Opening a shared link sends the settings in its address to HowToolbox to prepare the page.

A little time, clearly counted.
How to use
- Choose a preset or set hours, minutes and seconds, then select Start.
- Turn on Sound for a short completion cue while the page stays visible.
- Pause holds the remaining time; Continue resumes it. Reset returns to the full duration and lets you edit it.
- Choose a display face or open full screen for a larger countdown. Reset also clears the saved timer.
How it works
A countdown subtracts elapsed time from the duration you chose. Remaining time equals duration minus elapsed time, down to zero. The display rounds a positive remainder up to the next second.
Five minutes minus two minutes leaves three minutes. Pause holds that remainder; Continue counts down from it. The timing model follows the W3C High Resolution Time and WHATWG HTML standards.
Your browser can keep the duration and progress on this device to recover after reload. Recovery uses your device clock, so clock changes can affect it. Sleep, closing the browser or blocked sound can prevent an alarm; this is a convenience timer, not a safety-critical alarm.

Frequently asked questions
Will it ring if I close the browser?
No. Keep the page open and visible, and enable sound. Even then the browser or device may prevent the cue.
Does a reload lose the timer?
If local saving is available, the timer reports the time passed while you were away. It reloads silently.
Why was there no sound?
Sound needs your explicit permission each visit. Switching tabs or hiding the page disables it; returning does not enable it again.
What does Pause do?
Pause holds the remaining time until you select Continue, including after a reload.
How do I clear the saved timer?
Select Reset. It stops the countdown, disables sound and removes the saved recovery copy. Starting a new countdown saves its progress again.
Why does changing the device clock affect recovery?
Reload recovery compares saved and current device times. Moving forward may finish the timer; moving backward pauses the saved remainder for you to continue.
