How to use

  1. List your prizes, one per line. For several of the same, add the number at the end: Gift card ×3 (or x3).
  2. Press Spin (or Space). Press again while the wheel turns to spin it faster. The prize shows in big letters when it stops; use full screen to show it to a room.
  3. With Remove a prize once won on, every win takes one of that prize off the wheel. Reset puts every prize back; the list of spins stays until you clear it. Lower the chance of winning below 100 % to add No win slices.

How it works

Every prize on the list is a set of tickets: one ticket for each one you have, and every ticket is one slice of the wheel. A gift card listed ×3 has three slices, so it comes up three times as often as a prize listed once. With 10 prizes in all, each slice has a 1 in 10 chance; when one is given out, the rest share the next spin, 1 in 9 each.

The prize is drawn before the wheel moves, by your device's secure random generator, and the wheel is only turned so that it stops on that slice. Pressing Spin again only makes it turn longer and faster: it still stops on the same prize, so spinning harder never changes anyone's odds. To make winning less likely, the Chance of winning slider adds No win slices between the prizes: with 10 prizes and a 50 % chance, 10 No win slices join them, so half the slices win; the slider shows the exact chance when it cannot be hit precisely.

Everything happens in your browser, and nothing is stored or sent anywhere. A short prize list is added to the page link so you can share it; a long list is left out on purpose. For a lottery or a public giveaway, follow the rules that apply to you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the wheel fair?

Yes. The prize is chosen with the secure random generator built into your browser before the wheel starts, and every slice is equally likely. How hard or how often you press Spin does not change the result.

How do I make winning less likely?

Lower the Chance of winning slider. It adds No win slices evenly round the wheel, as many as it takes for the prizes to make up that share of all slices. Landing on one shows No win and no prize is removed. You can also add a line such as Try again ×4 yourself.

What happens when every prize is given out?

The wheel is empty and Spin stops working. Press Reset to put every prize back on the wheel, or switch off Remove a prize once won to let prizes come up again.

Can I offer several copies of one prize?

Yes. End its line with ×3 for three copies, for example. Each copy gets its own ticket.

Does a losing spin use up a prize?

No. A No win slice leaves all remaining prizes in the draw.
