DNS lookup
Web & developerHow is your domain set up in DNS?
Look up addresses, mail servers and other DNS records.
Your input is sent to our server to run the check. We don't log it. Public check targets and results may be cached temporarily to avoid repeating checks.
For example example.com, without https:// or a path.

Look up addresses, mail servers and other DNS records.
How to use
- Enter a public hostname such as example.com, without a scheme, path or port.
- Choose a record type and press Check.
- Read the records and TTL values; choose another type to check a different part of the domain’s setup.
How it works
DNS links names to information. A and AAAA give IP addresses, CNAME points to another name, MX lists mail servers and NS lists name servers. TXT holds text, SOA describes a DNS zone and CAA states certificate-issuance policy.
TTL is the time in seconds that a DNS answer may be cached. For example, 300 seconds ÷ 60 = 5 minutes. The table shows the reported TTL for A and AAAA; the TTL column is hidden for other record types. SOA’s final value controls negative caching and is not the SOA record’s TTL.
This is one lookup from our server’s resolver. Cached answers can differ elsewhere, and no records of one type does not mean the website is down. Sources: RFC 1035 (record formats and TTL), RFC 2308 (negative caching), RFC 8659 (CAA) and the IANA DNS Parameters registry.

Frequently asked questions
Why does another DNS checker show different records?
Resolvers may have different cached answers, and some domains return different addresses by location.
What is the difference between no records and a nonexistent name?
No records means the requested type was not found. A nonexistent-name response says the queried name does not exist.
Can I check underscore names such as _dmarc.example.com?
Yes. Public DNS names such as _dmarc.example.com are accepted. IP addresses and internal names are not accepted.
Does this check DNS propagation everywhere?
No. It shows one resolver’s answer. Other networks may still have older cached records.
Does an A record prove that a website works?
No. An A record maps a name to an IPv4 address. It does not test the web server.
