The meeting in each place

A meeting is one hour and must start and end inside the working hours. Holidays and weekends are not considered. Times come from the time zone data in this browser.

How to use

  1. Add the places the people are in. The first place sets the hour grid, so put your own first.
  2. Pick the day and, if your working day is not 9 to 17, the working hours.
  3. Read the best time and the overlap. Choose another hour if the best one does not suit you.
  4. Copy the summary to paste it into an invitation or a message.

How it works

People who live in different time zones are awake and at work at different moments. This tool lists the 24 starting hours of one day in the first place, shows what the clock says in every other place at that moment, and marks the hours that lie fully inside working hours.

The local time is the moment's UTC time plus the place's offset, and the offset depends on the date because of daylight saving time. Example: 14:00 in Helsinki on 16 October is 11:00 UTC, which is 07:00 in New York (UTC−4). A one-hour meeting at 14:00 ends at 15:00 in Helsinki and 08:00 in New York, so it fits Helsinki's working day but not New York's if work starts at 9.

The best hour is the one that suits most places, and among those the one closest to the middle of everybody's working day. Weekends and public holidays are not considered, and the hour grid is for the day you pick, so check the date around the days when clocks change.

Frequently asked questions

What if there is no hour that suits everyone?

Then the tool shows the hour that suits most places. Move the working hours a little, drop a place, or alternate the unfriendly hour between the people.

Does it handle daylight saving time?

Yes. Every place is read at the exact moment of the meeting on the day you choose, so a place that changes its clocks that week is shown correctly.

Why does a time say next day or previous day?

In places far east or west of the first place the same moment can fall on another calendar day. The note says which.

Can people have different working hours?

Not yet. The working hours you choose apply to every place in local time.

Are weekends and holidays excluded?

No. The planner checks local working hours only, so check everyone’s calendar before booking.
