How it works
An interval workout alternates hard effort with rest. This timer runs the schedule for you: a short warm-up, then rounds of work and rest, optionally several sets with a longer rest between them, and a cool-down. A tone tells you when to switch, so you can keep your eyes off the screen.
The best-known format is Tabata: 20 seconds of all-out work, 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times, which comes to 4 minutes (3 minutes 50 seconds here, because nothing follows the last round). It comes from a 1996 study by Izumi Tabata and colleagues. EMOM means every minute on the minute: you start a new round each minute. For example, 8 rounds of 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest with a 10-second warm-up take 10 + 8 × 20 + 7 × 10 = 240 seconds.
The timer counts real time and carries on after a reload. It is not a training plan and does not know your fitness, so choose effort you can keep up safely. It beeps only while this page is open and visible.

Frequently asked questions
Is the last rest included?
No. The last round of a set ends with the rest between sets, or the cool-down, or simply the end of the workout. A classic Tabata therefore lasts 3 minutes 50 seconds plus any warm-up.
How do I set up an EMOM?
Pick the EMOM preset, or set work to 60 seconds and rest to 0. With a rest of 0 there is no rest part, so one work minute follows the next.
Will it keep running if I switch tabs or lock my phone?
The time keeps counting and the display catches up when you return, but sound only plays while the page is visible. Keep the screen on, for example in full screen, if you rely on the cues.
Why is there no sound?
Sound is off until you turn it on, and your browser lets a page play it only after you select something on it. Turn Sound on, then select Start.
Can I pause between exercises?
Yes. Pause holds the remaining time; resume when you are ready to continue.
